AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF TEACHING COMMERCE

Difference between Aims and Objectives 

                      CONCEPT OF AIMS

      An aims is a result that your plan or actions are intended to achieve. Aim is a general direction of intent which gives direction to a teaching programme.
  John Dewey has rightly stated," An aim is a seen end that gives direction to an activity and motivates behaviour."

                CONCEPT OF OBJECTIVES 

        The objective is a statement which suggests a certain kind of change in the children and we try to bring about it in the child.
Carter V. Goods " Objective is desired change in behaviour of pupil as a result of experience directed by school. "

DEFINITIONS OF AIMS AND OBJECTIVES 

John Dewey:-- "An aim is a foreseen end that gives direction to an activity and motivates behaviour. "

Carter V. Goods:-- "Objective is desired change in behaviour of pupils as a result of experience directed by school. "

I. K. Davis:-- "Leading is the work of a teacher done to motivate, encourage and inspire the students to so that they will be readily achieve learning objectives. "

B. S. Bllom:-- "By Educational objectives,  we mean explicit formulation of the way in which students are expected to be changed by educative process."

N.C.E.R.T. Evaluation and Examination 

"An objective is a point or end in view of something towards which action is directed, a planned change sought through any activity what we set out to do."

   AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF COMMERCE                                 EDUCATION

*TO IMPART THE KNOWLEDGE OF COMMERCE:-- The chief objective of teaching commerce is to impart the basic  rules and principles related to commerce to the students of commerce.

*TO IMPART THE KNOWLEDGE ABOUT DIFFERENCE PROFESSIONS:-- At higher secondary level, the knowledge about different vocations or professions is provided to students so that they can choose only profession or vocation according to their interest, attitude, aptitude and economic condition.

*BASE FOR HIGHER EDUCATION RELATED TO COMMERCE:-- Teaching commerce at secondary level prepares the students for the higher education to be acquired in future. The achievement in +2 level guides the commerce students to join B.Com.,C.A., ICWA or any business administration etc. Thus the objective of teaching commerce should be to impart the appropriate knowledge related to higher education of commerce to commerce students in time, just after as they get their admissions in +2 level so that they can do hard work according to their predetermined goal of life.

*UTILITY IN FUTURE PERSONAL LIFE:-- 
Knowledge of commerce provides that knowledge which will surely help the students in their future personal life filling up the Performa of banks, insurance and cheques etc., writing the business letters, depositing and withdrawing the money from banks.

*HELP IN SELECTING FUTURE PROFESSION:-- The main objective to impart the commerce education is also to provide the knowledge of academic qualification and minimum experience required for joining any profession related to commercial sector in time just after as the students joins the +2 level.

HELPFUL IN CHANGING THE VOCATION:--
For meeting the needs of life, one has to do the business or to do the service. But due to technological development, one may have to bring any change in his vocation and any promotion in the service may also bring the change in the working style of the person. So the students should be provided the education in such a way that they can cope with the problem of changing the vocation or style services.

*DEVELOPMENT HUMAN VALUES:-- Through, commerce education, students can be taught about human value they can be told that each business has two things:----one is profit and second one is loss. So we should have patience for getting fair profit in the business.

*KNOWLEDGE OF VOCATIONAL SKILLS:-- 
The objective of teaching commerce at +2 level is to develop the vocational skills, the students can be taught about how to do the typing, how to prepare trial balance sheet, how to write in short hand.

*DEVELOPMENT OF LOGICAL AND DECISION TAKING POWER:-- The objective of teaching commerce should be to develop the students logic and decision taking power so that they can solve their financial problems easily.

*TO PROMOTE NATIONALISM AND INTERNATIONAL UNDERSTANDING:-- Through commerce education, nationalism and international understanding can be developed easily. For it they can be taught about the duties of a shopkeepar towards this customer or duties of a factory owner towards his share holders.

*PROPER UTILIZATION OF LEISURE:-- Teaching of commerce not only provides knowledge but also tries to help the students in the proper utilization of leisure. The teaching of commerce helps the students in acquiring the knowledge of bank,post office, share market and business letters etc. In a play- way manner.

       DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AIMS AND                                     OBJECTIVES 

AIMS

1)- Aims are very broad in nature.

2)- Aims are very close to those ideals which are not fully attainable.

3) Nation, Society and School are fully responsible for attaining the aims.

4) Aims cannot be evaluated easily.

5)- Long time duration is needed to attain the aims.

6) Aims cover the whole educational system and whole curriculum.

7)- Aims include objectives.

8)- Aims try to answer the question of why a subject is taught.

OBJECTIVES 

1)- Objectives are very narrow in nature.

2)- Objectives are fully attainable.

3)- Mostly the teacher is responsible for attaining objectives.

4)- Objectives can be evaluated after the end of one period.

5)- Short time duration is needed to attain the objectives.

6)- Objectives cover a particular topic to be taught in the classroom.

7)- Objectives are the part of Aims.

8)- Objectives try to answer the questions of what will be the achievement after teaching a topic in a period of class.
